My Review :

This is a simple story of love between a young woman and a young man who have had hard lives. It’s simple because it’s meant for an audience of young women and young men. The love story is pure, despite some messiness, and who wouldn’t want that for our young adults? Whoever out there has had a pretty rough go of things in life will sympathize with the main characters, and hopefully also admire that despite the odds these guys were working hard and aspiring to good lives. You root for this couple from beginning to end because good things should happen to good people eventually. This book was pretty good. I did not want to put it down once I got into the story. The author does a very good job of pulling you in pretty quickly. Overall a good read.

Excerpt 1

I turned to leave. There were a million things I wanted to say to Justin, but without a guarantee that he’d respond the way I wanted him too, I was too afraid.

“Yes?” I was almost at the door.

Justin hopped up on the table behind him and rested his feet on a chair. I waited for him to talk. “I’m scared,” he finally said.

“Scared of what?”

“That you’ll break me.”

I walked over to Justin slowly and stood in front of him. “You don’t believe I care about you?”

“I do. But feelings change, people change.”

“I don’t know what I’m supposed to be saying right now. I was the one who asked you out. I was the one who told you I was interested, but you turned me down, twice.”

“Because I’m an idiot.”

“Just hear me out, okay?”

“Ok.” I took a step closer to him and he reached for my hand.
